What a way to celebrate being 90!

Another funeral at Mass today and the church was packed. Coming home there was a parade, Orosi style. I wasn't in time for pictures of the band but I did get a neat one. I don't know what the event was, but it was interesting.
Back at La Quinta activity had started. I found out it was only going to be family so about 90 people, not 600. Gerardo came and got me and I got the tree I had made for Papa and headed to the party room. It was decorated and everyone was in jeans and shirts and cowboy hats. There were snacks and beverages on the tables. Each person was given a shot glass size glass of I think eggnog for the toast. Lunch was served, which Ana had made. It was rice and chips and a pasta salad and a beef mixture. It was all very good.
There seemed to be a break in activities after lunch so I headed back to my porch to continue cutting up branches. Marta brought me a plate of breads and sweets and I was also offered coffee. Later there would be cake and ice cream.
The activities moved outside and the volume of music and people was turned up. One of the things I love is they have so much fun with very little alcohol. I know there was a bottle being passed around for little shots but no kegs or cases. The activities were simple. Karaoke and dancing and conga line and jump rope, musical chairs - or that is what it sounded like. Tons of laughing, a piñata with everyone being given a bag for goodies. The music was great - a combination of Spanish and English.
There was a small group of four interested in the soccer field. They headed for my porch and flower area and I convinced them to use the opening halfway down the field instead. They came and went several times and I thanked them. They gave me a thumbs up so I got my cookie container and gave out my last chocolates as a thank you. Gerardo came along so he got the last one.
About 6:00pm the party started breaking up and by 7:00pm everyone was gone and everything was quiet and back to normal in La Quinta.
I finished the 8" and the 12" branches and now I need to gather more branches. I am about half done with 9"10"11" so I don't have that many left. Then I will need to start putting together the trees for the senior center.
Monday morning Emilio and I are going to Cartago to start picking up things I need for Thanksgiving and then lunch at his house with his mother. I still have to figure out a way to track down Dona Rosa.
Happy Birthday to my daughter, Heather. I hope she spends a great day in Madison celebrating with Kent.

The parade.

Papa and his tree.

Papa dancing with the ladies.

Piñata time. There was a sno cone stand with big blocks of ice to shave and different pop for flavoring.
The piñata was a guitar.

Gerardo doing the limbo. They had it pretty low at that point and raised it up for him.

The head table were brothers or sisters or in laws of Papa. Tia is in the black.
