Since my back and leg feel pretty good I decided to take the bus and finally check out the Plaza Paraiso. The bus was jam packed and I stood for a few blocks, then got a seat. The poor bus driver kept checking with me because he knew I wanted to get off in Paraiso and I kept letting all the stops go by. I finally got off right where I wanted. And, if any of you remember, the nursery is right next door. I know I said the budget was blown, but that was just till I got to another nursery.
So, the Plaza Paraiso is a big, impressive building with Mega Super at one end and Econo at the other and pretty much nothing in between. I started at Econo, a department store and pretty much walked the whole floor with people keeping a close eye on me as I had my big red bag over my shoulder. I did find a belt to buy as my pants are getting hard to keep up.
Next I decided to check out Super Mega. You know me and grocery stores. I love them. I walked every aisle, picked out a few things I don't find at the Super Mercado and then decided to try out the cafeteria. I got a pollo Casado which included salad - I love coleslaw - potatoes, rice, black beans, plantains and chicken. Also iced tea. The whole thing cost 2300 colones or about $4.60, and it is very good. The man behind me in line was so helpful as he spoke English and Spanish. There are no signs saying what they offer or what is included so he explained it all and made sure I had everything. And free wifi!
Next it will be off to the nursery to check out the area I didn't go to last time.
