I wrote out the pattern, yes in Spanish, with the help of my translate program. Problem was no one wanted to use the directions. One of the ladies, Anita, is very good and can even look at one of my hats and reproduce it. She was a tremendous help. She was the one I worked with last time so she had already made a couple. She spent most of her time checking the ladies work and helping them, tearing out if necessary. They would ask me for row 4 and I would say uno, uno, dos, uno, uno, dos. It got to be a joke. Row 5 was uno, uno, uno, dos, uno, uno, uno, dos. Row 6 to 16 was uno, uno, uno, uno, uno. They kept the yarn and the crochet hooks to finish. Anita also figured out how to do the area for the scarves. I told them I have lots and I would show them when they come next Thursday. We should have lots more fun with our cooking lessons. I am doing the artichoke dip, chocolate coconut balls and refrigerator pickles and they are doing a soup. We will have lots to eat.
Yesterday only Katherine came to sew so I think I have lost my students. Katherine has a couple people who are interested and Ziomara and one of Douglas's daughters want to learn also. I will just head in another direction.
Tomorrow is bow making at the senior center. I am not sure how that will go as it is a little complicated. And, it will just be me, no one to translate.
I made lemon bars for coffee with the craft ladies and will take some to Tia's for their coffee tomorrow. Today Ana brought me a plate of food after Otto left. There was fried banana, rice, and a mixture of eggs and the mystery vegetable from my garden area. Besides the papaya trees it is the only thing that grows there. They were sliced open and filled with a cooked meat mixture and then cooked with the eggs. Not bad. They may have been cooked first also as they were very soft.
Katherine and I and the girls are talking about an excursion next Tuesday. She wants to get some fabric for things for the girls and I need binding for the edges of my quilt. If we can't find anything in Cartago we will go on to San Jose.
Even Rosita's mother came to participate.
Have to try it on, even if it isn't finished.
The lady in white crochets 90 miles an hour. She was so fun to watch. The one on the right is Ileana.
I was told the lady who got one of my hats is in the hospital and sent many blessings to me.
Rosita is helping to fix a problem.
