The good news is.....

My students didn't show up. I know it is terrible to think of that as good news. The other good news is I was invited to a party. Last night I heard the party room being set up so I knew something would be going on. The party seemed to start about 2:00pm and I saw kids all dressed up so I knew it was a kids birthday party. Turned out it was Janet's granddaughter's 5th birthday party. About 3:00 Janet came over and invited me to join them as it was her family and friends. As I was sitting there she asked about Friday so I brought all the ribbon and showed a couple of them how to make the bows. I also brought my crochet and told her about the hats. She has a niece who has lost her hair because of cancer and it turned out she crochets. I got another crochet hook and a bag of yarn and she picked out what she wanted. I wrote out directions and she started a hat. She says the next one she will do the one with the scarf. I worked on mine as I sat there and I am almost finished with it.
This morning when Katherine and the girls were here I took out the pool and put them and all the toys in it. They had a great time, even without any water and the kids at the party did the same thing so I brought out all the toys again. I also brought out the soccer ball but that is the bad news. A bunch of us have looked and we can't find it. It is dark now so I will have to look again tomorrow and tell Gerardo so he can keep his eyes open. It is bright red so it has to be someplace around.
The party was great and I have eaten enough carbs to keep my blood sugar numbers up for a month.
I have just gotten some exciting news. I may be having visitors in October when I come back from the States. It would be great.
We will see if my students come back tomorrow or they have given up. Today is a holiday. Katherine will be coming for sure. She also thinks her maid's daughter wants to come and her friend, Jason.  I bought 3 magazines with patterns for clothes and She liked the children's dress so I gave her the pattern and a piece of fabric. It isn't like patterns in the US. Many patterns are printed on both sides of the paper. You use a dark pen and trace it on other paper and then cut out the fabric with the new pattern. If we can turn out a good dress, we will next use the really cute pillow case Heather got at the Dig and Save for the next one.
I am back on my porch and I was just delivered another plate of food. Chicken rice, macaroni salad and chips. Janet brought it and let me know she made it. I have been eating and drinking for over 3 hours. There are at least 50 people so they had a lot of food to prepare.
Thursday is massage and hat making lesson at the craft ladies. Friday is bow making at the senior center. Saturday will probably be Cartago for artichokes and maybe I can work a stop at the feria for empanadas. I was so jealous when Emilio told me he had them last Saturday. They are one of my new favorites.

The sky is very impressive tonight.

The birthday girl just before the piñata. The whole theme was Frozen.

Once the piñata breaks.

Hi G
Been a busy summer so I'm just catching up now.Just wanted to say
Welcome to Home sweet Home!!!
So glad to finally see some pix of the yard and the gardens
Beau-ti-ful.So are the hats that you are making and not just for
someone with health problems they would be so cute for anyone.
I can understand the ladies with no sewing ability because I got
NONE of it either and no patience.
Are you still going to the pool?
Why don't you give any treats to the Chinese? Trying to create a
global problem and we've got enough of them already!!
