Yay, yay, yay

I just got an email about my appointment with immigration. I have to be at the attorney’s office at 8:00am on March 8th and my immigration appointment is at 9:00am. What a great birthday present - my birthday is the next day.

Before then I will have to go to the Bank of Costa Rica in Paraiso or Cartago to make my deposits into a particular bank account. Three deposits that I don’t remember what they are for. I know one is for a ticket to send me out of the country if they need to and one is for my ID card. I will also have to have a receipt to prove I am paying CAJA (the insurance). By then I will have my new passport. This morning I made arrangements with Correos and paid my $7.00 to have it sent to Cartago. I also notified the embassy and they acknowledged it. It should be ready for pick up about Feb. 8th.

Once I have my ID card I will open a bank account and transfer $1000.00 a month from my US account. In 3 years when I apply for permanent residency I will have to be able to prove I have done that. It doesn’t have to stay in the bank. I can use it but it has to show the deposits. For the pensionada  residency category they require an income of $1000.00 a month for the rest of my life. I think it is so you can prove you have an income and won’t be a drain on the country.

I am on my way to being a Tica.
