I had contacted him about going to the CAJA Clinic in Orosi with me so I could get an appointment set up to see a doctor. No, I am not sick but I have to see a doctor and have him go over my meds and authorize them thru CAJA. My doctor, Dr. Mora, thought the doctor would speak English but not the receptionist so I wanted to be prepared.
We left here about 9:30 because the road was blocked by the road crew. It turned out the person handling the appointments was the mother in law of Jose’s brother so someone he knew. I had my cédula and my papers CAJA gave me. No problem I got an appointment for next Thursday at 11:00am and we decide Jose doesn’t need to come with me because if I go to the lady she will take me to where I need to go.
Everything is going great until she tries to find me in the computer and can’t. Finally she gives up and we head for the CAJA office in Paraiso. Jose explains everything to the lady and they go to another lady and sure enough I am in there. So, they print out something and off we go back to Orosi.
Nope, nope, nope, nothing works and Jose is on the phone for a good half hour and the only solution is to go back to Paraiso with a letter written by the lady in Orosi.
Back to the CAJA office in Paraiso. They don’t understand what is causing the problem. I think we have the manager involved this time. Jose says let’s go and we walk a couple blocks to the CAJA Clinic. He ends up going into a room and when he comes out he says one big step done. Turned out I was listed there and he got a printout. He went into another room and when he came out he said ok, let’s go. I said where and he said back to Orosi.
Seems the system has different regions and she was only checking the local one. Only took about 5 minutes to find me. In her defense I don’t think this computer program has been in effect very long so although she has worked this job for 40 years she probably hasn’t worked the program very long.
You might say what were you doing all this time while Jose was doing all the work. Well, I was staying out of the way, which helped everyone. And I had a container of chocolate chip brownies that I handed out. Patience isn’t my longest suit so I just kept quiet.
I was going to stop at the bank and have Jose help me in the ATM but by this point I was exhausted
The chocolate chip started as one big piece but broke all apart when I took it out of the pan. People got chunks.
When I get back in May I will be getting another kitten.
I love her coloring.
and just came home. I have a debit card from Banco National but when I went to use it everything is in Spanish and I don’t know what to do. When I use my US debit card an option comes up for English. Now you probably think I came home and took a nap. Noooooooooo. I came home, had a quick bite, packed up and headed back to Paraiso for craft ladies. I may not even get out of bed tomorrow! By the way it takes about 20 minutes from Orosi to Paraiso. Up and down mountains. Beautiful scenic drive usually. Not so much today.
Ok, venting done. Saturday to Paraiso to the feria to get coffee to take to the US and meet Emilio. He is printing more jelly labels so I can bring jelly back with me. Maybe he will be coming to Orosi to work and can help me with the ATM. I still need to make another trip to Cartago for more Buen Día coffee. The one at the feria is Cafe Christina and Heather wants both.
